Bigger and Better AcademyU to Be Launched at Annual Meeting

PrintAAO-HNSF will launch its bigger and better AcademyU®, the Foundation’s learning platform, during the AAO-HNSF 2015 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO℠ .

The new AcademyU makes education activities and resources easier to access. Improved search functionality will allow learners to find the exact courses they are most interested in. Users also will have 24/7 access to their continuing education credit records.

AcademyU’s improved offerings and features will be on display during the Annual Meeting in the AcademyU Learning Station in Lobby D2, on the second level of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Education staff and leaders will be at the AcademyU Learning Station to present live demonstrations and answer questions about Foundation education opportunities. As part of the Academy in Act10n series, education leaders will be giving short presentations during scheduled breaks and lunch, and staff will be available to show off the benefits to the new AcademyU.

“I am very honored to see the New AcademyU learning platform showcased at the Annual Meeting &OTO EXPO℠ . It has been four years in the making, from surveys and needs assessments to designing the ideal learning platform for our members,” said Sonya Malekzadeh, MD, AAO-HNSF Education Coordinator.

AcademyU.org was developed through an extensive member practice-gap analysis and education needs assessment. It features next-generation education and knowledge resources, and extended education opportunities focused on professional practice and patient care.

The new learning platform will be:

  • Learner-focused, with features designed to optimize your experience to search, discover, and share knowledge.
  • Personalized, with the ability to recommend courses to users based on their professional interests and background.
  • Social, with a variety of discussion communities focused on education and professional development.
  • User-friendly, with easy access to increased content, search functions, and continuing-education transcripts.
  • Searchable, with an integrated search function from all resources on the AAO-HNS/F website.
  • Flexible, with a variety of course formats to match your learning style

“With the increased functionality of AcademyU, the education committees are now able to develop innovative and challenging education programming that will truly have a positive impact on patient care,” said Richard V. Smith, MD, AAO-HNSF Education Coordinator-elect.
