Symposium Explores Global Clinical Issues, Challenges, and Advances

The international flavor of the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience will be on display from Sunday through Wednesday at the second International Symposium.

Providing a global perspective of important topics in otolaryngology, the program enlightens the entire community and offers high visibility to international presenters. The symposium has been expanded to offer 25 Miniseminars with speakers from more than 30 countries.

Six of the nine Sunday sessions will be presented in Spanish and broadcast over www.entannualmeeting.org, the Annual Meeting webite. All other sessions will be presented in English. Several presenters represent the 2017 Honored International Guests—China, France, Mexico, and South Korea.

“There are many improvements this year to the International Symposium. First of all, the participants will be granted full CME for attending,” said James Saunders, MD, AAO-HNS coordinator of International Affairs. “We hope that this designation will encourage more U.S. participants to attend the session and learn from these international experts.”

A focal point of the symposium is “Global Otolaryngology 2017: Your Academy Around the World,” presented at 8:45 am on Monday in Room E353A. Speakers from each of the Honored International Guest countries will explore the diversity of international otolaryngology. They will explain the challenges and approaches to diseases and discuss specific clinical issues in their regions. They also will share issues related to their healthcare systems and otolaryngology workforce trends.

Five other sessions will be presented Monday, six on Tuesday, and four on Wednesday.

“It is a great opportunity to learn from experts from all over the world in areas that encompass the breadth of our specialty,” Dr. Saunders said. “We have worked hard to select only the best sessions and to have a well-rounded program that covers all of the bases.”
