WIO General Assembly to Meet Monday

Women in Otolaryngology General Assembly

A keynote address focusing on professional development, the election of new officers, and the presentation of awards will highlight of the Women in Otolaryngology (WIO) General Assembly Meeting.

This year’s WIO General Assembly moves back to its traditional midday time slot, and those who registered in advance will receive a box lunch.

The session will open with an address by Amy E. Herman, JD, president of The Art of Perception, a training seminar that teaches professionals how to enhance their observation and communication skills. She also is the author of Visual Intelligence.

Herman works to help individuals learn to analyze, expand, and reconsider their professional responsibilities. The former head of education at The Frick Collection, she started a program for medical students to improve their observation skills and has adapted it for other professions.

The WIO Governing Council also will elect new officers for the positions of chair-elect, member-at-large, and financial officer. The 2017 Helen F. Krause, MD Trailblazer Award will be presented to Amber U. Luong, MD, PhD, and the 2017 Exemplary Senior Trainee Award will be presented to Juliana Bonilla-Velez, MD.

All female Academy members are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn how to become more involved in the WIO.
