Listening and Learning — ENT Around the World

Global Otolaryngology 2020: Your Academy Around the World

Sunday, September 13, 8:00 – 9:00 am (ET)

International Symposium

J. Pablo Stolovitzky, MD

Given the theme of this year’s meeting—Bringing Together the World of Otolaryngology—as well as the global challenge we all face in the realities of COVID-19, there is perhaps no better time to collaborate with otolaryngologists from around the world.

This year’s International Symposium features goodwill ambassadors from our International Guests of Honor countries and regions, Egypt, Caribbean, Germany, and Taiwan, who will share unique challenges and approaches to the practice of otolaryngology in their respective areas of the world.

“We are part of this connected community and we are honored to have these wonderful voices be part of ours as we grow and nurture future generations of ENT physicians worldwide,” said J. Pablo Stolovitzky, MD, AAO-HNSF Coordinator for International Affairs. “If COVID-19 is sobering, we’re all sharing, and we’re all experiencing [it.] It’s a unique opportunity to share and learn from each other, and in the end, our learnings advance the specialty and together we will emerge stronger than before.”

Now, said Dr. Stolovitzky, is an especially crucial time for the Academy to be actively listening and learning from those in our global community.

“We are all connected globally,” he said. “And the Academy and our Academy around the world, all of those that represent corresponding ENT societies—we have a brotherhood and sisterhood out there. We’re all in this together. It’s all about global outreach, global communities, and interconnectedness and collaboration for the advancement of the specialty.”

Representing the International Guests of Honor during this presentation include:

  • Samy Elwany, MD (Egypt)
  • Sheng-Po Hao, MD (Taiwan)
  • Dirk A. Heinrich, MD, PhD (Germany)
  • Halda C. Shaw, DDS, MD (Jamaica, representing the Caribbean Region)
